Company led by Fourth Generation Expands Business to Now Include Towing and Recovery Equipment
Hagerstown, MD (July 3, 2018) – Jerr-Dan Corporation, an Oshkosh Corporation Company (NYSE:OSK) and a single brand leader in the towing and recovery business, salutes its distributor WATERS Truck and Tractor on their 80th milestone anniversary. The family owned business, led by fourth generation family members, has expanded to include Jerr-Dan towing and recovery equipment.
“As WATERS celebrates this major milestone, we are very proud of partnering with them and look forward to continuing to support their business initiatives as they continue to thrive across various industries including towing and recovery,” said Jeff Irr, Senior Director of Sales for Jerr-Dan. “We are honored to have a business relationship with a distributor whose expertise and mission, like ours, is to excel in customer service and satisfaction.”
WATERS Truck and Tractor was founded in 1938 by Ray M. Waters, Sr in Columbus, Mississippi. Since then, the company has made it its mission to provide the highest level of customer service while offering a wide variety of transportation products, solutions, and services. Some of these include parts and service support, a collision repair center for trucks, buses, and trailers; a truck and tire center, road side and heavy-duty wrecker service; industrial maintenance service, pupil transportation services and heavy equipment service.
WATERS third generation Mike Waters joined the company full-time in 1975. The company expanded to Meridian, MS, in 1976 as WATERS International Trucks. M.L. and David Waters joined the company a few years later. The second branch of WATERS Truck and Tractor was opened in Kosciusko in 1982. WATERS acquired and operated the Blue Bird Bus franchise from 1990-2000. The Blue Bird Bus franchise was dropped and replaced with the IC Bus franchise in 2000. WATERS International Trucks opened a branch in Natchez in 2002 and Hattiesburg in 2007. A second location in Columbus called WATERS Truck and Tire Service opened in 2009.
“We are proud to offer Jerr-Dan towing equipment including standard, medium, and heavy-duty wreckers, designed and engineered to handle any job – from simple breakdowns to heavy retrievals and complex recoveries,” said Mike Waters, President. “As we celebrate this milestone anniversary, our company continues to look for business opportunities to expand our product offerings and service people in our local communities.”
